TOM CLANCY'S ENDWAR ONLINE





Whether with HAWX, the Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon them, let alone the future The Division, Ubisoft pays long the Tom Clancy license. Most hypermnésiques of you may remember even some Tom Clancy's EndWar, published in 2008. But with EndWar Online, whose output is expected before the end of the year, the future of this franchise now passes through the free-to-play.


Currently in beta phase, EndWar Online will be free and accessible to all run via a simple web browser. Do not think however that this is a game at a discount, with simplistic Flash graphics! We are entitled instead to a relatively clean 3D, which has not much to envy some other real-time strategy games. The free-to-play Ubisoft acquires even a button to switch instantly between high or low graphics, in order to gain fluency quickly and easily. A good idea that should be included in all AAA, either RTS or not. By the way, can we really call Online RTS EndWar? Yes, even if the gameplay was relatively short compared to the classic recipe because the designers have more or less taken over the concept of MOBA. Understand by this that the cards have several predefined paths (often three), and that does not lead directly to the units. It only decides on the way in which they appear or, for tactical units, fixed capture points. The game indeed offers three categories of units: combat, tactical and "off map". The first category includes tanks, helicopters and anti-aircraft vehicles. All these people works on the principle of good old rock / paper / scissors, and therefore should be sent on different paths the most suitable to counter the flood enemy units. The second category consists of units of the infantry (which can capture bunkers), artillery (which has every interest in dedicated place on the points of each map) and air transport (for removal Infantry anywhere on the map, not just to make them appear from the base). The last category includes attacks drones only to such buildings, air strikes to pound the ground units, and interceptor jets to quickly annihilate the enemy helicopters. Add to all this a moral system, which increases damage and hit points, individual commanders to recruit, and three separate resources. Energy notably allows commanders to improve and build buildings in the headquarters, which is on a separate card maps where units clash.
